the process

Custom Design is allllllll about you and your partner. From conversations and forms you will fill out for us, we are able to curate a suite that embodies elements that define & are significant to you and your fiance. At Brown Suga, we specialize in venue illustration, calligraphy and watercolor. Your invitations will be authentic and unique to your love story and will set the tone for what your wedding will entail.

We highly recommend booking your custom invitations early as we have a limited number of openings.

Step 1 - consultation & style meeting

Once you have completed the inquiry form, you receive an email to book your consultation. This meeting allows us to work through your initial thoughts and helps you walk through your vision, as well as give us a glimpse into what impression you’d like to leave your guests with using your stationery.

step 2 - proposal & booking

From our discussion at your consultation, we then create a custom proposal for you to review. Included are options for printing methods, finishing touches and other details related to your initial design concept. To secure your space on our design calendar, just approve your proposal, sign the contract and pay your 5o% retainer. Congratulations – you are officially a Brown Suga Stationery couple!

step 3 - Design process

The design portion of your project begins between four to six months before your wedding date. Timeline is established and will be provided to you once the proposal is approved. We review paper and design samples, as well as sift through swatches to determine your style and needs. Pulling from all the inspiration you’ve provided, information questionnaire and design questionnaire we provide you with your first proof! You will receive 2 free revisions and then approval, yay!

step 4 - production & assembly

Brown Suga Stationery works with several trusted professional production partners to ensure we are providing the highest quality materials and printing, always working with local partners when possible. Before your suite is delivered, thorough quality checks and pre-assembly of all your pieces happen. Your finished suite is packaged nearly ready for the mail — just attach postage, seal and send!

Step 5 - Suite delivery

All suites are delivered at least one week before your suggested mailing date, pre-assembled and without invitation envelope postage. We also provide a separate suite for detail photography included in your final delivery, as well as a keepsake suite for you!

Step 6 - celebrate!

Once your beautifully curated invitations are mailed off to your guests, it’s time to check this huge to-do off your list! & Celebrate of course! Be sure to track your RSVPs as they arrive for important guest details that impact your day-of paper goods, such as attendee numbers and meal choices, etc.
